In the elementary grades, teachers build upon a child’s interests and matters of personal concern as they develop learning experiences for the class, following Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, and state curriculum guidelines.

Additionally, teachers and children increasingly share responsibility for determining what is to be studied in-depth, which skills need to be practiced and mastered, and how progress and achievement will be documented. This approach is based on the firm belief that all children can learn, that they want to learn, and that they are highly motivated to document their achievements.

Elementary School Start and End Times

• Kindergarten  9:00 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
• First and Second Grades  8:50 a.m. – 2:55 p.m.
• Third Grade  8:50 a.m. – 3:05 p.m.
• Fourth Grade  8:45 a.m. – 3:05 p.m.
• Fifth Grade  8:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
