WHITTIER, Calif. (June 1, 2016) — We are so pleased to share the good news that Broadoaks and OMEP-Whittier College have won a 2016 Education for Sustainable Development Award from World OMEP.
This is the first time that an American has won the award and the first time a collegiate chapter has been recognized. The award will be presented at a general session at the OMEP World Conference in Seoul, Korea the first week in July. Whittier College students will attend along with fourth-grade teacher, Valene Martinez, and Dr. Judith Wagner.
Special thanks goes to Valene Martinez who has been instrumental in organizing the events that earned us the award — International Day of Peace, Global Handwashing Day, the Jog-a-Thon, World Water Day, etc. – and CONGRATULATIONS, again, to all who made this possible!
