We closed out Week 6 of our Summer Program with a BANG! We were so excited to have the opportunity to work with Broadoaks’ favorite scientist, Dr. Vann Priest, Dean of Math and Sciences at Rio Hondo College, again this year! Students explored and researched different flying mechanisms, while learning a bit about the laws of physics. Kindergarten through middle school ended the two-week academy with Dr. Priest by launching various sized rockets to great heights all over campus! What an amazing and unforgettable experience for all of our student scientists!
On the last day of this year’s Summer Program, we celebrated the ninth season of “Broadoaks on Stage,” our summer musical theatre academy, with an awesome performance by students in grades kindergarten through seventh grades. Students sang their hearts out to classic tunes such as Take Me Out to the Ball Game, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Old Time Rock and Roll, and Thank You for Being a Friend. We are always so impressed with the Broadoaks children’s willingness to learn, their eager spirits, and the speed with which they adapt and learn in only ten days! Thank you to musical theatre instructor, Courtney Schlickenmeyer and A BIG THANK YOU to the fantastic Broadoaks teachers and staff. Thank you to all of our families for your continued support and a special thanks to the Ruth B. Shannon Center Team for the use of the beautiful space each and every year. “Broadoaks on Stage” would not be possible without all of you! See you next summer!
